Q: How do I add a profile picture to my forum posts and replies?

A: All you have to do is sign in, then go to the Dashboard and click on the Profile link in the left sidebar.  You can change/add/subtract info here, and at the very bottom is an upload box for you to add your profile picture. Maximum dimensions for this are 150×150 pixels. Once you’ve saved your changes, the photo should show up on all your posts and replies.

Q: Can we post our own discussion questions and topics, or do we have to go with what’s already there?

A: Please feel free! But to keep everything organized, please do post your topic in the appropriate forum. For example, anything related to the book we’re reading should go under its specific forum in the Book Discussion area. If you’re introducing yourself, it goes under Member Introductions… and so on. If you need any help navigating the forums, please say so!

I’ll add more to this if any other questions are asked…!

One last note: please try to keep the forums as spoiler-free as possible. For the first book, there are different discussion topics for each of the parts (Part I, Part II, etc), so obviously if you haven’t made it to that part of the book yet then you may want to avoid that section! Mark your spoilers if you have any so that we can accommodate everyone’s reading pace. Thanks!!

Review the rules!

Don’t worry, there aren’t very many. But there are a few general guidelines about posting, suggesting new books, and responding to discussions for our monthly reads, so please take a few minutes to read through them! You can see the rules post here, and there is also a topic on the discussion boards that covers the same thing. Depending on how things go with reading and posting, we may add or subtract guidelines here and there to better fit the group.

Get your username and password!

If you provided your e-mail address in response to the post on our Facebook group, you should’ve received an e-mail with your username and password for the forums. In case you didn’t get that e-mail, all you have to do is send a message via Facebook or through the contact form here. We’ll reset your information and send it to you as quickly as we can. On that note, please be sure to hang on to your initial email so you’ll have a record of what your username and password are!

Log in to our forums!

We’ve tried to make logging in as simple as possible, so all you have to do is click the Member Sign-In link located in the sidebar and in the navigation above! You’ll see it if you scroll all the way down the sidebar. This will take you to the forums, where you can join the discussion. Please note that only registered users can post replies or new topics in the forums, although any visitor can read them. Once you’re logged in, you can click the Dashboard link right next to the login and edit your user profile (upload a forum avatar, customize your WordPress experience, etc).

Introduce yourself!

While some of us already know each other and have been friends for some time, please stop by and introduce yourself! There are a few questions you can copy-paste and then answer so that we can all get to know everyone a little better. You can use my post as an example if you want to see how it works.
